The probate of the will of John Reeve states that "The testator died at Braintree the 5th Day of April 1793." In his will he describes himself as "John Reeve of Braintree in the County of Essex victualler." He mentions his wife Mary, and two daughters Mary Wood and Sarah Rebecca Reeve. The probate reveals that Sarah Rebecca married Isaac Lake by the time of the probate.
The following items of interest was copied from the blog of Delores Dickson as taken from the Diary of a Ms. Livermore which is found in the Essex Record Office in Chelmsford, Essex:
- Friday, April 5, 1793 died of the White Lyon John Reeve, a victualler, who formerly lived at Bocking End & ? jorneyman for his brother Jonas.
This proves that this John was the brother of Jonah Reeve of Bocking. Jonah was referred to as Jonas in several other entries in the diary which prove it's the same person being referred to.
The following entries appear at the beginning of the Bocking Independent Register as those baptized by the Rev. Mordecai Andrews of Coggeshall:
- Mary, Daughter of Jno & Mary Reeve of Bocking
