1. Elizabeth Reeves, b. bef 1749

Cumberland County Will Records include an appointment whereby "Elizabeth an infant of the age of fourteen years and upwards Daughter of Joshua Reeves late of the County of Salem Deceased" chose Ezekiel Bennet as guardian. This is dated 9 Feb 1762. This means that Elizabeth was born before 1749 and would therefore appear to be the daughter of Joshua who died in 1749. Although Joshua is buried in what is now Cumberland County, that county was formed from Salem in 1748 so it would be natural that Joshua was known as "of Salem." In the petition it states the Elizabeth is the "only daughter of Joshua Reeves late of Alloways Creek in the County of Salem."
