His father Benjamin's will directed part of his land to be given to Silas which bordered, among other things, "the road leading from Northfield to Orange."

The Centinel Of Freedom published a short notice of Silas's death on 19 Aug 1823:
At Northfield, on the 3rd inst. Mr. Silas Reeve, aged 28 years, leaving a widow and two small children.
