There is an indenture filed 11 Jun 1830 in which "William Napier Reeve was bound to the said Michall Lane to serve him as his clerk in the profession and practice of an attorney and solicitor." It states that William Napier Reeve was "eldest son of Joseph Reeve of Bocking in the County of Essex Grocer and Draper)."

The following application for admission to the Freedom of the City of London is dated 14 Dec 1839:
I William Napier Reeve (Son of Joseph Reeve of Bocking Essex, wine merchant) occupying premises in No 24 Broad Street Buildgs in the Parish of St Botolph Bishopsgate in the Ward of Bishopsgate Without and carrying on the Profession of a solicitor do hereby apply to be admitted to the Freedom of the City of London, by redemption, in pursuance of the Resolution of the Court of Common Council of the 17th and 19th March, and 1st October, 1835, in the Company of Spectaclemaker of London and I hereby declare that I am not an Alien, nor the son of an Alien, and that I am above the age of 21 years.


In 1841, their daughter Isabella was listed on the census with her grandparents, Joseph and Sarah, in Bocking.

In 1851, William Napier Reeve was age 39, born in Bocking, Essex, living in Leicester St. Mary in Leicestershire. With him were wife Mary Ann (35), daughter Isabella Waugh (13), and servant Christina Broughton (19).

In 1861, William Napier Reeve was age 49, born in Bocking, Essex, living in Leicester St. Mary in Leicestershire. With him were wife Mary Ann (45), daughter Isabella Waugh (22), and servant Jane White Geary (22).

In 1871, William N. Reeve was age 59, born in Bocking, Essex, living in Leicester St. Margaret in Leicestershire. With him were wife Mary A. (55) and servants Marianne Booker (35) and Fanny Allen (24).

In 1881, William Napier Reeve was age 69, born in Bocking, Essex, living in Leicester St. Margaret in Leicestershire. With him were Mary Ann (65) and servants Mary Ann Colsy (26) and Mary Ann Michen (22).

From the National Probate Calendar, 1888:
REEVE William Napier. Personal Estate £6,080. 5s. 2d. 12 June. Administration (with the Will) of the Personal Estate of William Napier Reeve late of Prebend-street Leicester in the County of Leicester Solicitor who died 21 April 1888 at Leicester was granted at Leicester to Mary Anne Reeve of Prebend-street Widow the Relict the Residuary Legatee.
