Some months after the publication of the study of the Reeves family of Southold L.I. by Wesley L. Baker, Mrs. Robert C. Reeves, whose husband was a descendant of Jonathan Reeves, discovered some clippings and notes which had been sent to her husband in 1966 by his aunt. Among those clippings is the following:
Abimial King Reeves - born at Cutchogue, Nov. 27, 1794, when he was 18 months old his father moved to Shelter Island. In the year 1818 he moved with his father to Sag Harbor.

Research Notes

Fonda, New York Dutch Reformed Church records appear to contain an entry for the baptism of a child of "Abimel K. Reeves" and Helen Louisa Archabald named Patrick Alexander (Reeves) on 4 Jul 1825. A Marian Ward was witness. It appears likely therefore that Abimiel was married to Helen previous to Elizabeth and lived in the Fonda, New York area for a time.
