Anderson Reeves
Geneva, Ala., Nov. 24. - Funeral for Anderson Reeves, 87, who died Wednesday night at his residence in the Sardis community near Chancellor, after several weeks' illness, was held at 2 p.m., Friday, at Sardis Church, with the Rev. J. M. Truett, of Enterprise, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home, of Geneva, in charge. Mr. Reeves had been a resident of Geneva County for the past 64 years, having moved to this county from Dale County. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Catty Hones and Mrs. P. A. Oliver, Chancellor; Mrs. Paul Watkins, Enterprise, Mrs. John Robinson, Columbus, Ga.; four sons, J. W. Reeves, Chancellor; B. M., Ocala, Fla.; H. A., Pensacola, and J. F., Bostic City, La.; a half-brother Nick Norris, Florala; two half-sisters, Mrs. Will Stone and Mrs. Mandy Jones, Chancellor.

The obituary of Anderson Reeves places him in Dale County, Alabama previous to 1875. It also mentions a half-brother Nick Norris.

In 1870 in Dale County, we find a James and Martha Morris with a Nicholas in the household and four Reeves children: Dock, age 16, Jennie, age 14, Josey, age 11, and James, age 9. Dock is the right age to be this Anderson.

His death certificate lists parents as Unknown. It states he was 87 and was born in Coffee County. Informant was a Mrs. Sallie Oliver.

Research Notes

This is thought to be a grandson of Anderson Reeves of St. Clair County, Alabama through his son Anderson, but this needs verifying.
