Narrative

Children of Andrew Reeves and Jane Harbison:
  1. Ellen Reeves, b. 1815
  2. probably Middleton Reeves, b. 1819
An 1821 Kershaw SC deed by Andrew Reeves and wife Jane, gives Jane's maiden name as Harbison and identifies her father as George Harbison.

This is very likely the same individual who was recorded in the 1840 census living in Maury County, Tennessee. That household was recorded as follows: 1 Male ‹5, 1 Male 5-9, 1 Male 20-29, 1 Male 50-59, 1 Female 5-9, 1 Female 10-14, 2 Females 15-19, 1 Female 20-29 and 1 Female 50-59. It appears that the young family of a married son or daughter may have also been living in Andrew's household.

Research Notes

Middleton Reeves, born circa 1819 in South Carolina, who was recorded in the 1860 census of Lauderdale County, Alabama is probably a son of Andrew and Jane Reeves. Middleton married in Maury County, TN in 1840 and is most likely the son aged 20-29 living in Andrew's household that year. Andrew appears to have been deceased by 1860 and in the 1860 census Jane, aged approx. 67 born in South Carolina, is recorded living in Middleton's household.

Middleton Reeves is listed as a nephew in the Petition for Probate of Will of Stephen Reeves filed 31 January 1873 in Lauderdale County AL. Middleton Reeves, like Stephen, was a resident of Tennessee after leaving South Carolina and married Laurena Christopher on 17 Sep 1840 in Maury County TN. All of Middleton's older children are recorded as having been born in Tennessee up until 1850 when the family lived briefly in Greene County, Missouri before moving back to Tennessee and then to Alabama.
