Narrative

Charles, the son of Charles Reeves and Ann (nee Russell), was baptised at the Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul, in King's Somborne Hampshire on 22 May 1808.

Charles appears on the 1851 census with a wife Sarah. This is believed to be Sarah Field. Charles Reeves and Sarah Field married at the Parish Church of All Saints, Houghton in Hampshire on 6 April 1833, which is Sarah's home parish (from 1851, 61 & 81 census returns).

Known children of Charles Reeves and Sarah are ....
  1. Sarah Reeves, born c1843
  2. Charles Reeves, born c1846
Both these births were registered in the Portsea Island Registration District of Hampshire.

Charles and Sarah have not been positively identified on the 1841 census.

By the time of the 1851 census, Charles with his wife Sarah along with their two children are living together in on Windmill Lane in the Holy Trinity area of Fareham. Charles gives his age as 42, claims birth in King's Somborne, Hampshire and his occupation is Blacksmith (Journeyman).

A decade later and the 1861 census shows Charles and Sarah living at 60 Brighton Street in the Landport area of Portsea. He is now 52 and still working as a Blacksmith. Daughter Sarah (17) is still living at home.

Charles has not been identified on the 1871 census. It seems probable that his wife Sarah married John TILBURY in September 1871 in Portsea, so it is presumed Charles had died before Sarah's remarriage. There is more than one possible match on FreeBMD between 1861-71 for the death registration of a Charles Reeves in Portsea.
