The 1855 New York State census shows him age 28, a butcher, living in New York City. With him are wife Almira (21), daughter Elmira (2) and sister-in-law Elizabeth Curtis (24).

In 1860, Charles was age 30, a butcher living in New York, born in New York City, with wife Elmira (25) and Elmira (6), George (4), Charles E. (5/12) and Maria Conly (20).

In 1863, Charles H. Reeves, age 37, butcher, appears on the Civil War Draft Registrations in Deerpark, New York.

In 1870, he was in Deepark, Orange County, New York, age 43, with Elmira (36), Elmira (16), George (14), Charles (10), Walter (6), and Minnie (3).

In 1880, Charles was living in Port Jervis in Orange County, age 53, with wife Elmira (46) and children George (24), Walter (16), Minnie (13), Claude (9), Benjamin (5), Charles E (20), and daughter-in-law Emma (20).

In 1900, he was in Deerpak again. The census states he was born in Nov 1826 and his wife Almina H. born in Nov 1833. His children Charles E. (Jan 1860) and Claude W. (Dec 1870) were with him along with granddaughter Ethel B. Reeves (May 1882).

In 1910, Charles was in Port Jervis, age 84, living with his son Claude.
