Narrative
Charles Wesley REEVES in the second known child of George W REEVES and his wife Elizabeth (nee REEVES).He was baptised in May 1834 at the Parish Church of St George, Didbrook, Gloucestershire.
On the 1841 census taken on 6 June, Charles is the eldest of three children in his parent's household in the village of Didbrook. He was seven years old and was born in county (Gloucestershire).
At the time of the 1851 census, on 30 March, Charles is to be found as a visitor in the household of William and Jemima ROBERTS on Chandos Street in the nearby market town of Winchcombe. He is seventeen years old, was born in Didbrook and working as a Journeyman Wheelwright. There is currently no known family connection, but William Roberts was a Carpenter and Joiner, a trade allied to that of a Wheelwright.
It is highly probable that the death recorded during the second quarter of 1851 in the Cheltenham Registration District of Charles Wesley Reeves, age 17, is our subject. Charles was not with his parents and siblings when the family emigrated to the USA in July 1851.
Research Notes
(1) William ROBERTS and Jemima BECKETT married by licence in Winchcombe during January 1831. There is presently no known family connection to either bride or groom.Sources
