Narrative

Dora Caroline REEVES was the third of three children of George Henry REEVES and his wife Annie (nee REEVES). She was born in Battersea, Surrey on 01 November 1915. She was often informally referred to as "Wink" within the family.

At the time of the 1921 census, as Dora REEVES she is with her parents on Clifton Crescent, in Peckham, London SE15. Her father indicates she was then 5 years 8 months old and that her place of birth was Battersea, London. She was attending school full time.

The 1939 Register notes Dora is still living with her parents on Clifton Crescent, in Peckham. The register entry confirms her date of birth and that she was single. It also indicates she was working as a Clerk for the Ministry of Labour.

FreeBMD notes the marriage of Dora C REEVES and Albert W BARKER during the first quarter of 1941 in the Deptford Registration District. The marriage took place in February 1941 at the Parish Church of St James Hatcham in Deptford. See Research Note 1 below.
Dora and Albert had two children.

For much of their married life Dora and Albert lived in Bexleyheath, Kent but after her husband's retirement they moved to Liphook in Hampshire where they lived close to Dora's sister "Tilly" for several years before returning to Kent.

Dora's husband predeceased her in December 1999 and Dora Caroline BARKER died in June 2002, with her death being registered during July 2002 in Gravesend Registration District.
