The baptism of Edward son of Edward REEVES took place in the Parish Church of St Mary The Virgin in Gillingham, Dorset in October 1744.

The marriage of Edward REEVES to Elizabeth DOWN took place at the Parish Church of St Mary The Virgin in Gillingham, Dorset in June 1774. Both were described as being "of this parish".

The burial of Edward Reeves, which took place during February 1827, is recorded in the Burials Register the Parish Church of St Mary The Virgin, Gillingham. He was 82 years old, matching well with his baptism in 1744.

Research Notes

(1) There is little doubt Edward one Thomas (bapt 1774) is the child of Edward and Elizabeth but at this date the register does not include the name of the mother, only the father. However, it is worth noting there does not appear to be a burial in Gillingham for Edward one prior to the baptism of their son Edward two in September 1782.

(2) Daughter Rachel survives to adulthood and was married at Gillingham in February 1803 to Thomas GRAY, both otp. Both appear on the 1851 census in Gillingham HO107, Piece 1851, Folio 402 face, Page 10, Schedule 37. Their neighbour is Fanny Reves (sic) (age 68, born Horsington, Somerset).
