This man appears to be the Eli Reeves who was enumerated in Montgomery Co., NC, in 1830. He was in Coweta Co., GA, in 1840 with a large family (2 males aged 0-5, 2 aged 5-10, 2 aged 10-15, 2 aged 15-20, 2 aged 20-30). He was enumerated in Campbell Co., GA, in 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. Many researchers indicate that Nancy's maiden name was Steed but that has not been corroborated which has been corroborated by a recently discovered published notice. An 1837 equity case in Montgomery County, North Carolina names Eli Reeves and Nancy his wife among the heirs of Moses Steed. Nancy was born 1 February 1802 in NC and died 2 May 1893 in Campbell Co., GA.

Additionally, the recently discovered petition for dower filed by Jesse Reaves wife in his estate file lists his children and includes Eli Reaves.

In 1850, Eli and all children from Martha through Lundy were shown in HH 122/122, Campbell Co., GA. Adult sons James F. and family and A. A. and family were in HH 123/123 and 125/125.

Eli and Nancy are buried in the Old Reeves Cemetery, Palmetto, Campbell Co., GA. His name is spelled "Elie" Reeves on his tombstone. Some members of Eli's family moved to Pittsburg, Camp Co., TX, where they are buried in Reeves Chapel Cemetery.
