Elijah served in Co. A, 23rd Reg, MO Volunteers. A headstone was provided for him in Oregon.

Listed as Silas Reeves on the 1850 census. This may be his middle name, although it may have been Spencer. Elijah moved to Oregon and is incorrectly listed on the census there as Vinson Reeves with his son Vinson Reeves in the household.

Research Notes

Formerly thought to be son of Elijah Reeves and Mary from Fleming County, Kentucky. There was an older Elijah Reeves who was living there in 1850 with his wife Mary. The wife Mary died 20 Mar 1856 and is buried in the Marden Cemetery. More research is needed to verify the connection.
