Research Notes
There is very little information regarding Elizabeth Reeves. She is named as Holmes in her father's 1781 will but whether her husband was the John Holmes who migrated to Wilkes County, Georgia is uncertain. It is apparent that John Holmes was closely connected to this Reeves' family since many of the Wilkes County records for John Holmes name Jeremiah and Malachi Reeves. Note that they were witnesses to his will below.Elizabeth Reeves must have died young very young but was living in 1781 when her father's will was written. All records for Capt. John Holmes of Wilkes County GA state that he married Chloe Bentley, daughter of William Bentley II, circa 1769 in Georgia. It is Chloe who is named as John Holmes' wife in his 1803 will from the Early Records of Georgia (Will Book GG) and probated in July 1807:
