Narrative
Exactly when Elizabeth Reeves was born or when she married Alexander Seale is unknown. The 1850 Greene County, Alabama, census showed her age as 50, and the 1830 Greene County, Alabama, census showed her age as 30-40 (thus suggesting a birthdate of 1790-1800). Certainly, Alexander was of age by about 1801; his oldest known child was born in 1802. It may be that Alexander's older children were the offspring of an earlier marriage and that he married Elizabeth Reeves about 1810. The children born after 1810 appear to have Reeves family names (William R., Lucretia, Cynthia, Hezekiah, and Jeremiah), while the older children do not have names associated with the Reeves family. It may be, then, that Elizabeth's birthdate was closer to 1790.
Alexander Seale was enumerated in Greene County, Alabama, in 1830, aged 40-50 with a wife aged 30-40. In his household were three males under age 15 and a male 20-30 years old. Also shown were females aged 10-15 and 15-20.
Alexander Seale and family were enumerated in Greene County, Alabama, in 1850: Alexander Seale, age 70, Farmer, $150, GA; Elizabeth, 50, GA; Jeremiah, 23, Farmer, AL; Eliza S., 24, AL; Iddia, 6/12, AL.
