The 1860 census denotes the son Hewel (Uel) as Jr. It also states that "Uel" (Sr.) was born in Greenville, SC, while his wife Jane and all the kids were born in Spartanburg.

Research Notes

Based on the name similarity, this Ewel is surely connected to the elder Ewel Reeves from Greenville County. Perhaps he is a son of Ewel's brother John Reeves.

Son William may be William H. Reeves who lived in Spartanburg County.

Son "U. L."'s death certificate gives the maiden name Hindman for Jane.
