Narrative

Children of George Reeves and Elizabeth Judd:
  1. Edward Reeves, b. c1845
  2. Elizabeth Reeves, b. c1849
  3. William Reeves, b. c1853
  4. Susannah Reeves, b. c1856
  5. Charles Reeves, b. c1858

From the Lambourne Parish Register:
  • (1841) July 4th. George Reeve of full age, Bachelor, Labourer, resident of Abridge, son of Edward Reeve Labourer, to Elizabeth Judd, minor, spinster, resident of Abridge, daughter of John Judd, Labourer. Married in the Parish church according to established church after banns by John S. Dolby, Curate. Witnessed by: William Judd, Sarah Reeve
  • Buried. George Reeves, resident of Abridge, June 22 (1891), age 78, by Geo F. Wright Rector

Given that this George was the son of Edward Reeve according to his marriage record, we can identify him as the George listed in the 1841 census in the household of Edward and Hanna Reeve. His baptism from Lambourne incorrectly records the father's name as Edmond:
  • 1813. 24th Jany. George son of Edmond & Hannah Reeve of Lambourne Labourer by M. Lewis Curate

Children Edward and Elizabeth are listed on the 1851 census. Their baptisms are listed in the Lambourne Register:
  • 1849. Aug 5. Edward son of George & Elizabeth Reeves of Abridge Labourer by James Goodwin Rector
  • 1849. Aug 5. Betsy daughter of George & Elizabeth Reeves of Abridge Labourer by James Goodwin Rector

The 1861 census lists George Reves in Lambourne, age 68, born in Lambourne, with wife Elizabeth, and children Edward (14), Betsey (11), William (8), Susannah (5), and Charles (3).

Research Notes

(1) Elizabeth was recorded as a Widow on the 1901 census.
