The 1820 census of Charles County, Maryland lists Horatio Reeves with 1 Male 16-18, 1 Male 16-25, 1 Male 27-44, 2 Females under 10 years old, 1 Female 26-44 and 2 Slaves. The older male children are very probably younger brothers who are living in Horatio's household after the death of his mother Susannah in 1813.

By 1830, his household includes 1 Male 40-49, 2 Females 10-14, 1 Female 40-49 and 2 Slaves. Horatio's household is unchanged except for ages in the 1840 census - 1 Male 50-59, 2 Females 20-29 and 1 Female 50-59. There were no longer slaves recorded in the household.
