The News of Cumberland County, 28 Feb 1896
ALLOWAY. Death has again visited our town, although it cannot be said that his approach was stealthy, as his visit was not unlooked for. The victim was Mr. James Reeves, who was the oldest man in our township, being in the ninety-first year of his age. He was a man of sterling integrity, and during his long life among us, everybody always spoke well of "Uncle Jimmy." He was laid at rest on Wednesday in the cemetery of the M. E. church, of which church he had been a faithful and consistent member for over sixty years, always contributing largely of his means to any good work. T. Dunn & Co., of Salem, were the undertakers, and Rev. V. A. Lonier preached an excellent and very appropriate sermon. He leaves three daughters, who will sadly miss him, as will also all of our citizens.
