Witness to their marriage was a Zibiah Reeves, possibly Zibiah Reeves. This suggests a very close connection to the family. He may be the John Reeves baptized 20 Apr 1806 in Didbrook, son of James and Frances. However, this doesn't appear to be James of Didrook, father of Zibiah Reeves as Zibiah and her siblings had a mother named Mary. Further investigation is needed to determine the exact relationship.

John was living in James's household in 1860 and was likely his father. Based on the information in John H. Reeves's obituary, the widower John Reeves of Winnebago County, Illinois, appears to be his father and the individual formerly of Glens Falls, New York.
