A more extensive obituary was included in the Daily Gazette, 17 Feb 1885, which included the following bit of information:
John H. Reeves was born in Glostershire (sic), England, August 18, 1845, and died February 18, 1885, in Harvard, Ill. His parents came to this country when he was a boy of eight years, and his youth was spent mainly in the village of Glenn Falls, N. Y., until 1857, a young man of 22, he came to Rockford, Ill., which was his home until he entered the native work of the ministry.
Note: His obituary states he was born 18 Aug 1845, but later states he was 22 in 1857, which agrees with the census ages, resulting in a birth date of 18 Aug 1835.
