John is the eighth and last known child of William & Dorothy Reeves. He was baptised at the Parish Church of St Mary, Fordingbridge in Hampshire on 14 May 1821.

On the 1841 census taken on 6 June, John appear in a family context with his parents William & Dorothy Reeves on the High Street Fordingbridge in Hampshire.

At the time of the 1851 census, on 30 March, John along with his elder sister Mary are still living at High Street, Fordingbridge. He is 28 years old and claims birth in Fordingbridge. His occupation is not entirely distinct, he is a "Grocer ****, employing 1 man" where the second word might be "Maltster"

John has yet to be identified on subsequence census returns and it is possible his is the death recorded on FreeBMB in 1q1858 in the Fordingbridge Registration District.
