Sarah Kendrick, the wife of Joseph Reaves was the granddaughter of Rev. John Parker who migrated to Texas in 1835. Sarah's parents had remained in Tennessee when most of the other Parker family members migrated to Texas. In 1836, John Parker and four other Parker family members were massacred when Fort Parker in Limestone County was attacked by Comanches. The now famous Cynthia Ann Parker, mother of the Comanche chief Quanah Parker, was Sarah's first cousin. Cynthia Ann was kidnapped by the Comanche when Ft. Parker was attacked and later married to Chief Peta Nocoma.

Sarah Reaves died in January of 1880 according to the 1880 mortality schedule
