Narrative

Joshua was buried in the same family cemetery as Howell Reeves. It's likely they were brothers.

In 1820, Joshua is listed in Minisink with one boy under 10, two girls under 10 and one woman 26-44, presumably his wife.

In 1830, there is a Mary Reeve in Minisink who is otherwise unaccounted for. She had one boy under 5, one 5-10, and two girls 15-20 in the household. This matches Joshua's household from 1820 and therefore is likely his widow.

Research Notes

There was an older Joshua Reeve from Orange County who signed the Pledge in 1775 to support the committees in New York for the cause of the Revolution. In addition, a Joshua Reeve married Abigail Haff on 27 Apr 1786 (see Goshen First Pres Records). That could not be this Joshua as he would have been 14 years old at the marriage. If this Joshua was a son of that older Joshua, perhaps it was a second marriage for the elder Joshua.

This appears to be Joshua, son of Joshua who was baptized at Southold Pres Church on 22 Nov 1772. See Southold Pres Church Records. Further research is needed as it is possible there may have been multiple Joshua Reeves in the area.
