Levi Woodbury Reeves is listed as a graduate of the University of Nashville in Tennessee in 1850.

On the 1850 census, he was listed in the household of B. W. Hall (?Hale).

In July Term 1853, the minutes of the County Court states that "Levi W Reeves who wishes to obtain a license to practice law is a young man of good moral character has attained the age of twenty one years and has resided in Rutherford County for more than twelve months." The court ordered he be certified.

His first wife Emma died in 1857.

Levi W. Reeves is named as a son in the 1860 will of Moses G. Reeves of Rutherford County, Tennessee. He was listed in Marengo County, Alabama as L. W. Reeves (27), along with A. T. Reeves (14) and L. W. Reeves Jr. (4).

In 1880, the two youngest children are listed as "not named." His mother Kittie, age 76, was living with him in 1880.

In 1900, he is listed as a patient in some kind of hospital in Baldwin County, Georgia.

On the 1880 and 1900 censuses, it states his father was born in North Carolina and mother in Pennsylvania.

Death of Col. L. W. Reeves
A telegram received in Selma Wednesday morning brought the sad intelligence of the death of Col. L. W. Reeves, which event occurred at 2:33 a. m. at his home near Atlanta, Ga. Col. Reeves has been a patient sufferer for many years and his death was not unexpected.
Deceased was the father of Messrs. Archie and Catlin Reeves, Mrs. J. W. Moore and Miss Adolpha Reeves, of this city, and resided here, where the news of his death will be received with regret, for many years.
