The will of Levi Reeves states that Moses G. Reeves was Levi's brother and names Moses's sons Daniel L. and Levi W. Reeves.
In 1845, Moses sent the following letter to President James K. Polk who had begun his four year term that year:
FROM MOSES G. REEVES
Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Dear Sir;October 17th. 1845
There now exists at Nashville a very bad state of affairs. It seems that every body wants office and most of them willing to receive it in almost any way either from friends or otherwise.
For Senator, Nicholson & Turney, Humphreys & Keeble for Atto. Genl., for Comptroller Powell & W. G. Childress, for Treasurer, Joel M. Smith, Robt. P. Currin and some other old worn out man. 2 Our people have got all wrong will create divisions amongst themselves and in the end the Whigs will be able to elect Zollicoffer. They would rather have him than any of the rest of their men.
The way matters are now going on, with the large emigration to Texas (two thirds of them Democrats) will tell a bad tale in 1847 & 8 in Tennessee.
I do not set up to be a Huntsman, Prophet or the son of one, 3 but one thing is certain some of our men are acting very badly, and I fear it will produce much mischief in future elections in our state.

Research Notes
The family Bible states that Moses was from Orange County, North Carolina. His middle name "Guinn" may be a clue to families he was connected to. There were several Guinn families living in Hillsoborogh. In addition, John Reeves, son of George Reeves Sr was married to a Mary Gwinn/Guinn.Sources
