Spouse1: Jemima Lloyd, m. 4 Jul 1820, Bibb County, Alabama

Narrative

Jemima was born in Georgia. In 1840, it's just the couple living in the household. In 1850, a Mary Hill, age 15, born in Alabama was living with them.

In an 1851 deed from Autauga County, Richard gave his wife Jemima a number of "negroes."

Jemima "Rives" wrote a will dated 18 Nov 1853 with the header stating Autauga County in which she gave her "negroes" to her husband Richard "Reives." The will was proven and recorded in Shelby County 22 Feb 1858.

Research Notes

This does not appear to be the same as "R R Reeves" in Autauga County in 1830 as the wife's age is completely incorrect.

Information online claims Jemima was daughter of Thomas Abner Connell Sr. and had been previously married to an Alfred Lloyd.

This was thought to possibly be the same as Richard Reeves of Shelby County whose widow claimed a pension for him. However, given that Jemima was still living in 1853, this doesn't match.
