In his pension application record it states started service in Capt. Blackwell's Virginia Line in the 10th Virginia Regiment 1776 and served for about three years. In 1818, Robert was living in Hopewell in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. In 1820, some of the papers stated he was age 67.
In 1830, he was living in Solebury which is right by New Hope and not far from Hopewell, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. A Widow Reeves with a number of children were living a couple doors down from him. This may be a daughter-in-law and mother of the grandchildren mentioned in the will.
