Research Notes

According to son Simeon's 1880 census record, his father (Spious) was born in North Carolina. This needs verification but could be a clue to his origin.

In addition to Spious, there was a Joseph Reeves also associated with Burke County as he was granted some land there in 1792. In addition, a Joel Reeves "of Burke County" some land situated in Baldwin County in 1809.

The Augusta Chronicle lists a George Reeves and Benjamin Reeves as defaulters for 1790 in Burke County. In 1796, John Reeves and Joel Reeves are listed.
