Narrative
John, Thomas and Alfred Reeves are all listed in the Mississippi territorial tax rolls in Pike County in 1817. The County tax rolls available begin in 1818 with Thomas, John and Lazarus listed next to each other for land in Bogue Chitto and Clear Creek. In 1819, Lazarus and John are listed for land in Clear Creek and Thomas for land in Bogue Chitto. Alfred is listed as well but unspecified. In later years Zachariah shows up in the lists as well.On the 1820 United States Census, Lazarus, John and Thomas Reeves are all listed. On the 1820 Mississippi State Census, Thomas, Alfred, John and Lazarus are all listed.
In 1850 his wife appears to be listed as Martha (age 56). With them are Alexander Reeves (19), Francis Jordan (16), and Catharine (14).
In the 1860 census, he was living by himself, listed as Thomas Reeves Sr., next to the household of Zacheriah Reeves (33), presumably his son.
The original headstone states "Thomas Reeve/born in/ S. Carolina/Dec 15 1786/Died in/Pike Co Miss/Nov 12 1868/Aged/81Y 10Ms 27Ds." There are later markers for him as well which give the same info. His wife's stone reads: "Elizabeth/wife of/Thos Reeves/Born/May 22 1793/Died/Sep 12 1843/Aged/50Y 3M 20 Ds."
