From the beginning of the marriage of William and Elizabeth, babies were born about every two years. The last baby to be born was America Reeves who was born in 1853 in Alabama. In 1860 William's wife was alone with the children as a widow in Tallapoosa Co. Alabama. If William died in Mississippi as stated in the Petition to Administer the Estate of Thompson Reeves then they must have moved to Mississippi after America's birth in 1853. They must have returned to Alabama after William's death.
Melissa joined the Big Springs Baptist Church in Randolph Co. Alabama. This church was attended by many members of the Fannie Elizabeth Reeves Moore and Idens Moore family. In the early years of their marriage William and Melissa lived as very close neighbors to both William's sister Fannie and Idens Moore and Thompson and Cinderella Reeves.
