Narrative

William is the fifth of ten known children of John REEVES and his wife Lydia (nee TOLHURST). From multiple census returns it seems he was born at Bethersden, Kent around 1834.

At the time of the 1851 census, on 30 March, William appears in the household of his parents John and Lydia. He is 19 years, was born at Bethersden and his occupation is given as Farmer's son.

FreeBMD notes the marriage of William REEVES and Jane HIGGINS during the third quarter of 1859 in the West Ashford Registration District. The known children of William Reeves and Jane (nee Higgins) are

Neither William nor Jane have been identified on the 1901 census and it is probable William's death is that noted by FreeBMD during the first quarter of 1892, age 58, in the East Ashford Registration District. See Research Note 1 below.

Research Notes

(1) There is also a death registration for Jane REEVES, age 56 (sic, 58 expected) during the same quarter, in the same district and sharing the same page reference number as her husband William. That both deaths were reported at virtually the same time might be worthy of further investigation.
