  • (1565/6) Adam Reve the sonne of Adam Reve was baptized the xviith of Februarye

His father Adam mentions him in his will, directing "my soon Samson Reve shall paye unto my soon Adam Reve of basing stoke who is allredy well provided for, yet in tyme of remembrance xxv, to his wife Avis xxv, to his daughter Avis xxv."

According to his father's will, Adam was of (GB_HAM_Basingstoke|Basingstoke)) which is in Hampshire.

Marriage from the Parish Register of St. Martin, Ellisfield, Hampshire:
  • 1588 Sept 26 Adam Reve lunde? urufis? uxorem duxit filiam Joannis Gremway de Basingstoke (1588 Sept 26 Adam Reve ? ? married the daughter of John Gremway of Basingstoke) See Research Note 1 below.

  • (79A04/1) 14 Jun 1621: Settlement by way of bargain and sale, two messuages called Mary[mores] in Basingstoke: "the tenement of Sir Henry Whitehead to the north, the tenement of John Green to the east, London Street to the south and the market place to the west": (Memorandum on reverse that seisin was delivered on 20 Sep 1622) Parties of the one part:
    • i) Alice Mylett of Bridewell, London, widow, sister of Robert Greenaway, late of Basingstoke, gent
    • ii) Susan Braddock of Basingstoke, widow, sister of Robert Greenaway
    • iii) Adam Reve of Basingstoke, grocer and Alice his wife, the third sister of Robert Greenaway
    • iv) John Kinge the younger of Weston Patrick, yeoman, Richard Goddard of Basingstoke, grocer and James Wyther of Basingstoke, grocer and his wife Johane (late the wife of John Reve, son of Adam Reve)
    • Conveyed from i) ii) and iii) to John Kinge and Richard Goddard to the use of Johane Wyther until her decease, and then to her son, John Reve
  • (148M71/4/12/4) 8 Oct 1607: Grant in perpetuity: diverse pieces of waste on which to build windows for (ii)'s houses on the north side of London Street, Basingstoke: grantors: i) Adam Reve and John Stocker, Bailiffs

Various records from the Hampshire Archives show that Adam Reve was a bailiff.

Research Notes

(1) 26th of September in 1588 was a Monday. So this perhaps reads "On Monday, Adam Reve married the daughter of John Gremway"
