Although no supporting documentation has been found, it is reasonable to assume that the initials F. G. in Richard Roberts' name represent "Frederick Geer".

The following obituary for Richard Roberts' wife Nancy was published in The Georgia Enterprise on April 11, 1873:

Sudden Death
Mrs. Nancy Roberts, wife of Richard Roberts, fell dead in her door yard, on Monday morning last, near Oak Hill, Newton County. She was a native of King and Queen County, Virginia and was about 60 years old. Her sudden death is lamented by a large circle of friends and family who sympathize with the bereaved husband.

From census records, it appears that no children were born to Richard and Nancy Roberts. There are also no records to suggest that any children were born from Richard's second marriage to Catherine Ogletree as well.
