Transcript

Know all men by these presents that Samuel Reeves of Medford in the County of Middlesex Heelmaker William Reeves and Benjamin Reeves Heelmakers both of Salem in the County of Essex Jacob Reeves of Roxbury in the County of Middlesex aforesaid Heelmaker Nathaniel Reeves of said Salem Housewright Elizabeth Hollman of said Salem widow Richard Palmer of said Salem Shoreman and Mary his wife Joseph Clough of said Salem Blacksmith and Susannah his wife with ye consent of their mother Elizabeth Reeves of said Salem widow in consideration of the sum of Thirty two pounds thirteen shillings and four pence lawful money of this province paid by Dixey Morgan of said Salem Husbandman on the Twenty fourth day of April AD 1753 to their late Father Cockeril Reeves of said Salem Heelmaker since deceased for the two pieces of land herein aftermentioned of which two pieces the said Cockeril for the sum aforesaid executed & Delivered to the said Dixey a good Deed of Sale but neglected to acknowledge the same and in lieu of which Deed (the same being now destroyed) this deed is given also for the further sum of five shillings to them paid by the said Dixey Do hereby Grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Dixey and to his heirs the two pieces of land aforesaid vizt. A certain piece of land in Salem aforesaid containing an acre and about one hundred and fifty poles bounded easterly on the road leading from Salem to Marblehead there measuring twelve poles and nine links of the chain southerly on land of Francis Cabot twenty five poles and thirteen links of the chain northwesterly on land late of Nathaniel Ropes deceased on several courses as the bounds are fixed to land of Joseph Ropes where it measures from corner to corner on a strait line eighteen poles & three links of ye chain and north a little easterly on land of ye sd Joseph Ropes fourteen poles and twenty one links of ye chain to the road aforesaid also another piece of land in said Salem opposite to ye former on the other side of the same road containing an acre and a qaurter and twenty poles bounded Westerly on said road twelve poles and five links of the chain northerly on land of the said Joseph Ropes twenty one poles and nineteen links of ye chain and so on to the harbour or salt water then easterly on the harbour or salt water about ten poles and thirteen links of the chain and sourtherly on land of Francis Cabot to ye road aforesd with the marsh beach flatts fences rights members profits priviledges & appurtenances to the premises belonging also all the right estate and interest of ye grantors herein first beforenamed of in and to the same lands and premises and the reversion & reversions remainder and remainders thereof To have and to hold ye same lands and premises with the priviledges and appurtenances reversions & remainder thereof to him the said Dixey Morgan and to his heirs and assigns as in estate in fee simple to and for his and their only use and behoofe forever free of all manner of Incumbrances whatsoever and they the said Samuel Reeves William Reeves Benjamin Reeves Jacob Reeves Nathl Reeves Elizabeth Hollman Richard Palmer and Mary his wife Joseph Clough and Hannah his wife for themselves and for their heirs executors and administrators do hereby covenant with the said Dixey Morgan and his heirs executors administrators and assigns that they are lawfully seized of ye aforegranted lands and premises in fee and have good right and lawful authority to grant and convey the same to the said Dixey Morgan to hold as aforesaid and will warrant and defend the same to and for the said Dixey Morgan and his heirs and assigns against the claims and demands of all persons whomsoever forever and ye said Elizabeth Reeves widow and Elizabeth the wife of ye said Samuel Mary ye wife of he said William Hannah the wife of ye said Benjamin Abigail the wife of the said Jacob and Mercy the wife of the said Nathaniel for the further sum of five shillings to them paid by the said Dixey Morgan DO hereby grant and release to him the said Dixey Morgan all their rights of dower and interest in ye aforegranted premises to hold the same to him the said Dixey Morgan and to his heirs assigns In witness whereof the said Samuel Reeves and Elizabeth his wife William Reeves and Mary his wife Bejamin Reeves & Hannah his wife Jacob Reeves and Abigail his wife Nathaniel Reeves and Mercy his wife Elizabeth Hollman Richard Palmer and Mary his wife Joseph Clough and Susannah his wife and Elizabeth Reeves widow do hereto put their hands and seals this tenth Day of August AD 1757.
