This is the Last Will and Testament of me The Reverend Thomas Reeve of Ipswich in the County of Suffolk Clerk made the twenty fourth day of August One thousand eight hundred and twenty two
First I give and bequeath unto my son the Reverend Samuel Reeve (for whom ample provision has been made by the will of his late uncle Vice Admiral Reeve) all my Books and Mann? the? and miniature portraits of my said deceased Brother Admiral Reeve and the sum of ten pounds for a ring and subject to the payment of all such just debts other than and except the debt hereinafter mentioned as I shall owe at the time of my decease my funeral expences the charges of the probate of this my will and other testamentary expences and the legacy hereinbefore by me given I do give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever unto my dear wife Sophia Reeve to and for her own absolute benefit and disposal and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Sophia Reeve my wife my son the said Samuel Reeve and William Rodwell of Ipswich aforesaid Gentleman executrix and executors of this my will and whereas I have entered into a contract with Stephen Cook of Bromi in the said County of Suffolk Gentleman for the purchase of the perpetual adversion free disposition right of patronage and pros?utation of in and to the Rectory of the Parish Church of Brockdish in the County of Norfolk of which the Reverend Lawrence Gibbs Clerk is the present Rector or incumbent at and for the price or sum of three thousand one hundred pounds but the said contract has not yet been carried into complete effect but a part of the said sum of three thousand one hundred pounds remains unpaid now I do hereby give and devise the said Advowsor? right of patronage and presentation and all my estate title and interest therein unto and to the use of my said son Samuel Reeve his heirs and assigns for ever upon condition nevertheless that he my said son his heirs executors administrators or assigns shall and do with his or their own proper monies and effects make good and perform the said contract so entered unto by me or on my behalf with the said Stephen Cook and save harmless and indemnified my personal estate by this my will bequeathed to my said wife from all liability whatsoever in respect thereof or any part thereof and in case my said son shall refuse to comply with the condition in this my said will contained then I hereby revoke the devise hereinbefore above made to him and then and in such case I give and devise the said adowson? and the said Sophia Reeve and William Rodwell and their heirs to be by them sold and disposed of at their discretion for the best price and most money that can be had or gotten for the same and my mind and will is that the receipt or receipts of the said Sophia Reeve and William Rodwell or either of them shall be a sufficient discharge to the purchasor or purchasers thereof and that such purchaser or purchasers shall not be answerable or accountable for the application or misapplication of the purchase money and as to the monies to arise therefrom my will is that after payments of all my just debts incurred or become due by reason of my having entered into such contract the remainder thereof shall sink into and become part of the residue of my personal estate and be disposed of together therewith and my will is that my executrix and executors shall be answerable and accountable for such monies only as shall come to their respective hands by virtue of this my will and not the one for the other of them or for the acts deeds receipts or default of the other of them but each of them only for his own acts deed receipts or defaults and that it shall be lawful for them to retain to and reimburse themselves all such costs charges and expenses as they or either of them shall or may be put to in the execution of the trusts of this my will and hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made I declare this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty two
