Narrative

Samuel's will, written in 1801 and probated in 1803, mentions the following individuals:
  • my sisters namely Clara Reeve spinster Suria the wife of Aaron Tozer Hannah wife of Frederick Charles Reinhold Jane Reeve and Sarah Reeve spinsters
  • my Brother Thomas Reeve...his son my nephew and godson Samuel Reeve
  • three supposed natural daughters of my late Brother Richard Reeve...her known by the name of Elizabeth Richards

The will of his brother Thomas mentions "my ...deceased Brother Admiral Reeve." He is also referred to as Admiral Reeve in the will of his nephew Samuel Reeve. He was buried with his nephew at Saint Mary At Elms, Ispwich where they share a plaque with the following:

SACRED
TO THE MEMORY OF
SAMUEL REEVE, ESQ,
VICE ADMIRAL OF THE WHITE,
WHO DIED MAY V MDCCCIII AGED LXX YEARS.
HE WAS EXEMPLARY IN THE DUTIES
OF HIS PROFESSION.
A MAN OF STRICT PROBITY,
AND A VALUABLE FRIEND;
A BROTHER JUSTLY BELOVED
AND MOST GRATEFULLY REMEMBERED.

ALSO OF
SAMUEL REEVE, Clk. B.A.
HIS NEPHEW,
WHO DIED SEP. XXVII. MDCCCXXX.
AGED XLIV YEARS.


From The Gentleman's Magazine and Historical Chronicle, 1803:
At Ipswich, Samuel Reeve, esq. vice-admiral of the White. He went out in the forenoon in a single-horse-chaise, on a visit to Sir Robert Harland, accompanied by a servant, who sat in the chaise. The horse became unmanageable, ran the chaise against a bank, and both were thrown out; the Admiral's neck was dislocated, and he instantly expired.
