Narrative

In 1788, Joel had an earmark described as follows: "Slope over left ear half penny each side of same, half penny upper side of right, which was his fathers mark and Recorded to him." This mark had also been recorded by Bethuel earlier. Joel is named as a son in Bethuel's will.

This is presumable the same Joel Reeves who was overseer of highways in 1801, 1803, and 1804 in Southampton.
