Narrative

The Bocking Parish Register contains the following relevant bits:
  • Richard Reeve son of Joseph Reeve baptized 1 Sep 1693
  • Richard Reeve buried 6 Feb 1757, age 63

From the Stisted, All Saints, Essex Parish Register:
  • 1754. March 22. Mr Richd Reeve of ye Parish of Bocking Widower and Mrs. Sarah Churchman of Bocking Widow were maryed by Licence

Sarah's maiden name was Ruggles and she had formerly been married to Robert Churchman. From the Bocking, St. Mary the Virgin, Essex Parish Register:
  • 1739. March 29. Robert Churchman of Walden in Essex Widower & Sarah Ruggles of this Parish single woman

Since the marriage to Sarah Churchman indicates Richard was a widower, this marriage from Markshall, St Margaret, may be his first. There may have been multiple Richard Reeves from Bocking, so we cannot decide this conclusively yet.
  • Richard Reeve of Bocking singleman & Eliz Aylett of Yeldham Widow Nov 19th 1716

Richard left a will which named a number of his siblings and other relatives. He mentions his wife Sarah who had been named Sarah Churchman at the time of their marriage. Others mentioned in the will are:
