Research Notes
It is not possible for the widow Harriet E. Bedingfield to have been the wife of John T. Reeves, and mother of Isaac Newton, as proposed by the Reeves Review II. John T. Reeves, 26-44 was recorded in Jasper County, Georgia in the 1820 census with a wife, 16-25 and 5 children under the age of 10 years old. Harriet E. Reeves, age 26-44, who appears to be a widow is recorded in that same 1820 census in Washington County with 2 male children under 10 years old. Additionally probate records of Baldwin County record the probate of the estate of Harriett E. RIVES deceased, in August of 1828, but Elizabeth the wife of John T. Reeves was still living in 1870 in Florida.Mrs. Hovis's death certificate says she was born in Loachapoka, Alabama and her mother was Elizabeth Haynes. Mrs. Bryan's says the mother's name was Mary J. Hayes.
