Nothing further is presently known of Israel's childhood.

In May 1810 Israel REEVES and Susannah HILL were married by Banns at the Parish Church of St George's Hanover Square, Westminster, Middlesex. Both are described as being "of this parish". 1. Jane Vale REEVES, born Oct 1811
The baptism of Jane Vale REEVES, the daughter of Israel Reeves and Susannah, his wife, was recorded during November 1811 in the register of the Parish Church of St Mary-Le-Bone, Westminster, Middlesex.

Less than twelve month later, Israel's brother Charles REEVES married Elizabeth OTWAY in the same church of St Mary-Le-Bone. One of the witnesses to that marriage was an Israel REEVES. Whilst this might have been their father Israel on balance it is more probable it was our current subject.

In the Land Tax records of St Marylebone for 1816 to 1820 (inclusive), Israel REEVES is the tenant of E B Portman (see Research Note 3) living on Brown Street in St Marylebone, Westminster. In Robson's London Directory of 1820, Israel Reeves is listed at 5 Brown Street, Bryanstone Square as a "tea dealer, grocer &c"

Israel's wife Susannah died in 1820 and her burial on 4 August, age 49, is noted in the Parish Register of St Mary-Le-Bone.

In the Land Tax records of St George's Hanover Square for 1821 to 1824 (inclusive), Israel REEVES is a tenant living on John Street. On 10 September 1823, Israel was called as a witness at a trial at The Old Bailey where he stated he was the landlord of the Bricklayer's Arms, Grosvenor Mews.

Israel died in May 1824 and his burial on 13 May 1824, age 48, is recorded in the Parish Register of St Mary-Le-Bone

Research Notes

(1) The inclusion of Israel and Susannah’s daughter as Jane Veal (sic) Reeves in the new will written by her grandfather also Israel some six months after the death of his son Israel has been the key to linking the London life of our subject Israel to his Hampshire origins.

(2) The baptism register does not show the name of Israel's mother. However his father Israel REEVES is the only individual with this name known to be in this area at this time.

(3) Edward Berkeley Portman (31 January 1771 – 19 January 1823, Rome) was an 18th-century housing developer and politician. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Portman
