Narrative
Children of John Reeves:Children of John Reeves and Mary Lynch:
Although Thomas Reeves is referred to in John Reeves' Revolutionary War pension as his only son and surviving heir, Willis Reeves of Orange County and later Tennessee is also known to be part of this family through a Power of Attorney in which Willis refers to Thomas as his brother. However, John Reeves' 1832 will does not name Willis at all.
The 1790 census pages of Orange County detailing individual households do not appear to be extant, but in the census of 1800, John Reeves household consists of 1 male under 10, 2 males 16-25, 1 male over 45, 1 female under 10, 1 female 26-44 and 2 slaves.
Some of these children may have been deceased by the time John Reeves' will was written in 1834 and any children born to a first wife may have received any legacies due them around the time he remarried to Mary Lynch. The mother of Willis Reeves is believed to be Mary Walton, a first wife to John Reeves.
