Daughters Tabitha, Martha, Priscilla, and Delilah were still living with their father, unmarried, in 1850. Delilah made her will in Alamance County, North Carolina in 1883, mentioning land that had been owned by her father John Reeves. She gave everything to Chesley and Sinah Moore.
Research Notes
There is much evidence to support the belief that George Reeves, Sr.'s wife and John's mother was Tabitha Geer, daughter of John Geer who died in Orange County in 1769. See Research Notes on George Reeves, Sr.'s page.¹Although the date of birth of daughter Mary "Polly" Reeves Andrews is listed as 23 Dec 1787 in countless websites, this date could not possibly be correct. None of the cemetery sites such as Findagrave provide a photo of the gravestone inscription. When census records for the family of Archibald and Polly Andrews are reviewed, in every census beginning in 1820, her date of birth estimated is after 1790. The 1850 census when individuals in the household are listed, Polly's age was 53 or 1797. In subsequent census through the rest of her life her age is approximately the same, always born after 1790.
