Children of John Reeves and Ann:- Samuel S. Reeves, b. c1813, d. bef 1840
- John Reeves, d. bef 1840
In an 1839 deed, Anna Reeves "of the City of Philadelphia in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania widow of John Reeves late of the County of Gloucester" sold to Benjamin, David, and Isaac Reeves land which John had bought of John Tonkin in 1818.
In an 1839 deed in which John's siblings were the grantors, it describes land which John had bought and states: "said John Reeves departed this life intestate leaving issue viz a son named Samuel and a child born shortly after the death of the said John Reeves also a son, to whom the same descended as heirs at law, and the said last mentioned child died intestate under age and without lawful issue by reason whereof the whole of said premises became vested in his brother the said Samuel Reeves above named and the said Samuel also died under age and without lawful issue and intestate by reason whereof the said premises descended and became vested in the above named Benjamin Reeves David Reeves and Sybil Reeves wife of Isaac Reeves they being the brothers and sister of the said John Reeves deceased and uncles and aunt of the paternal side of the said Samuel Reeves."
Although the second son is not named in the above deed, there is a later deed from 1850 which describes land that at John's death "descended to his two children Samuel S Reeves and John Reeves and the said Samuel S Reeves and John Reeves having both died without lawful issue..."
Benjamin Reeves, brother of John, was appointed the guardian of Samuel S. Reeves in March 1826 "until he shall attain to the age of fourteen years." The entry states that Benjamin was of Philadelphia (E, p504). He was appointed guardian of John in Dec 1827 "until the said infant shall arrive to the age of fourteen years" (F, 75). That same term Samuel, now above fourteen, again requested Benjamin as his guardian (F, p76).
