The DAR supporting docs for John under National Number 776785 contains a copy of Greenwich Presbyterian Church records from DAR records transcribed for Shepard. Page 15 contains the following:
Thomas Reves, b. Feb. 28, 1727/8
John, his son, b. March 23, 1755
Josiah, his son, b. Sept. 5, 1757
Thomas & Thankful Reeves were mar. June 12, 1758

The DAR supporting docs also contain scans from the Broad Street Presbyterian Church Cemetery sexton book from Bridgeton, New Jersey. It contains an entry for John Reeves, husband of Patty, buried 30 Aug 1811. It also shows an entry for Patty, buried 22 Aug 1832.

John made his will in 1806, describing himself as "of the township of Hopewell County of Cumberland and State of New Jersey." He mentions land that was bequeathed to him by his father Thomas. He names his wife Martha and children in the will as well. It was proved in Sep 1811.

Research Notes

The birth date of his father in the Greenwich church records suggests he is a son of Thomas Reeves. However, Thomas never mentions any of John's family in his will. And John's will mentions land "which my father Thomas Reeves bequeathed to me" which would suggest his father was already deceased. More research is needed on this.

Note this is NOT the same as John Reeves son Johnson, also of Cumberland County and whose wife was also named Martha. That John Reeves was still living in 1815 according to a deed in which he sold land inherited from Johnson.
