He appears with his parents on 1881 & 1891 census in Battersea and subsequently Lambeth, aged 5 and 16 respectively.

He married his first cousin Fanny Louisa Reeves the daughter of Samuel Reeves in 1898 in Southampton. Eight years later in 1906 his younger brother George Henry was to marry Fanny's younger sister Annie Reeves.

Known children of William Edward Reeves and Fanny Louisa (nee Reeves) are

  2. Edward George Reeves , born c1901
  3. William Samuel Reeves, born 1903
  4. Dora Blanche Reeves, born July 1905
All four births are registered in the Wandsworth Registration District of London.

By the time of the 1901 census, William Edward (aged 25) along with his wife and eldest two children are found in Battersea, London. He is recorded as being a Locomotive Engine Fitter.

It is believed he and his family moved back to Hampshire following the transfer of work from the Nine Elms Locomotive Works to the newly opened Eastleigh Locomotive Works around 1910.

On the 1911 census, William is living on Priory Road in the St Deny district of Southampton. He claims he is 35 years old and born in Southampton. He is employed as a Locomotive Engine Fitter by the London and South Western Railway Company. In addition to William the household comprises his wife Fanny Louisa listed as Louisa Fanny, and their four children Louisa Caroline, Edward (listed as Edward Samuel), William (as William George) and Dora Blanche. William and Fanny have been married for 13 years and they have four children, all surviving. William's younger brother Sidney Charles Reeves completes the household.
