Wiki Stats - End June 2025
The total number of pages in the Wiki (as at 1 July 2025) now stands at 14790 (previously 14784, 14761, 14757), an increase of 6 pages during June. Of the total, 3039 pages (was 3039, 3036, 3035) begin with a number and are most probably a date related gleaning. We currently have 6636 wiki pages categorised as "People", of which 6109 begin with the letter "R". Its been another relatively quiet month.Community members should log in to see more.
TRP Users
During June we have received four new enquiries about membership of TRP. We ended the month with 596 user accounts registered in TRP, an increase of one over the previous month. We had one user successfully activated their account during June and we're pleased to welcome John to the TRP Community. At the time of writing he has yet created an AboutMe Page, please do take a look at First Steps - Part 2 for a reminder.If you are having issues activating your account or have simply lost interest, please do let us know. Please contact New User Admin by sending an email to TRP123 (at) TheReevesProject (dot) org if you're stuck and need help or have subsequently decided you don't want to join our community. If you are not yet a member and would like to contribute to our community, please see our About Us page to find out a little more about TRP and then please complete our Join Us form to start the membership enrolment process.
Whether you joined TRP recently or a while ago, if you have yet to do so, please set a meaningful name for yourself as described in First Steps - Part 1. It isn't difficult and only takes a couple of minutes to do. If it helps, think of it as a (small) name label badge; so your first name plus the surname by which you are presently known (or at least the surname initial) would generally be a good choice. You'll find links to the remainder of the our six part First Steps as part of the FAQ - First Steps. Those same First Steps are also a great refresher for anybody returning to The Reeves Project after a period away.
Minor Outage
If you tried to access TRP on Sunday 15 June you would found we were having some technical issues. It turned out to be a problem with the virtual server rather than with the wiki software which underpins our web pages. TRP was unavailable from about 04h00EDT/09h00BST until around 21h15EDT on Sunday (02h15 BST Monday 16 June). We are grateful to Jonathan for getting his head round this technical issue and resolving it for us. This was our first outage since October 2023 and fingers crossed we won't see another for a long while.Community members should log in to see more.
Reeves DNA Project Update - 2q2025
We've seen five new members join the Reeves DNA Project at FtDNA during the second quarter of 2025. We also saw one existing member withdraw from the project and the current membership now stands at 463 (as of 29 June 2025).During April we were joined by Rosa, Jacob and Belinda. In May it all went quiet with no new members and then in June we saw Colin and Juliana join us.
Through the past quarter we've seen no new sets of Y-DNA test results to share with the Project.
As ever, we would encourage all Y-DNA donors or their representatives to make contact and allow us to identify them within TRP. This is particularly significant if your connection to the R*v*(s) surname is from a female ancestor and you have taken a Y-DNA test. Please take a minute to read DNA Group XX's home page within TRP.
There has been a steady stream of match notifications for existing members of our project during the past quarter, including seven notifications of Y-67 match and 30 notifications of Y-37 matches. The seven Y-67 matches related to three individuals, two of whom we suspect are descendants of a female Reeves ancestor. We'd be grateful if they would confirm this by reviewing DNA Group XX's home page within TRP and then completing a DNA Donor Permission / Consent form so we can formally assign them to our DNA Group XX - thank you.
During the past quarter we've seen one notifications for existing project members receiving new Big-Y results. We've seen no new Family Finder results added for an existing member of our project and one from a new mt-DNA donor during the past quarter. Existing project members who have take a mt-DNA test have also continued to see a stream of match notification emails including 84 "mtfull" notifications during June alone.
