Mar. 13-In Westtown, JEREMIAH REEVES, aged 68 years.
Graveyard inscriptions of Orange County, N.Y. reports the following entries from Westtown Presbyterian:
- Reeves, Isaiah s Jeremiah & Hannah D d June 8, 1832 20-10-18
- Reeves, Hannah D w Jeremieh d May 13, 1875 87y 11m
- Reeves, Jeremiah d Mar 13, 1852 68-2-18
There is a deed dated 31 Mar 1855 in which the "heirs of Jeremia Reeve deceased party of the first living and being in the towns of Wawayanda & Minisink" sold some land to Joseph Davis. The deed seems to have been wrapped up in a court case involving the Decker family which may be the family Hannah was a part of. The signers, party of the first, are Daniel Reeve, Martha G. Reeve, Ruth Ann Reeve, and Hannah D. Reeve. This would indicate that Daniel Reeve who married Ruth Ann Carpenter was a son of Jeremiah.
Research Notes
Jeremiah is suggested by online sources to be a son of Daniel Reeve. Further research is needed on this possible connection. In addition, Refugees of 1776 from Long Island reports information from Ruth A. Silk, a granddaughter who indicates Jeremiah's father was Daniel and that Daniel served in the Revolution under Col. James Clinton.Sources
