From Stanford-Le-Hope, St. Margaret of Antioch, Essex Parish Register:
  • 1841 Novr 28. John son of James & Charlotte Reeves (of) Stanford lehope, Farmer, (by) Wm Armg rector

The probate of his father James mentions his son "John Reeve of Blackmore" in 1874.

In 1851, John was age 9, a student at the Diocesan school in Orsett under John William Rumsey. It states he was born at Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.

In 1861, John was an apprentice in the household of Archer Moss, Jr. in Dagenham, Essex. He was age 19, born in Stanford-le-Hope.

According to the Social Security claims index record for son Bertie Reeve, John's wife was Sarah A. Manning. This fits with the 1871 census in which an Olivia M. Manning was staying with them, listed as sister-in-law.

In 1871, the family was in Blackmore. John was age 28, a Miller & farmer of 85 acres, born in Stanford-le-Hope. With him are wife Sarah A. (29) and children Harold J (1) and Anna E. (6 weeks) along with servant Phebe Millbank (18), his sister Elizabeth Reeve (33), and sister-in-law Olivia M. Manning (27).

In 1881, the family was living in Barking, Essex. John Reeve (39), a farm bailiff, born in Stanford-le-Hope is listed with his wife Sarah A. (40), born in Bedford, and their children, all born in Blackmore: Harold J. (11), Anne E. (10), Gordon (9), Arthur (7), Edgar W. (6), Ethel J. (4), and Bertie (1).

In 1891, John was living in Stanford-le-Hope, age 49, a Brewers Clerk, born in Stanford-le-Hope. With him are wife Sarah Ann (58), Gordon (18), Edgar W. (16), Ethel J. (14), and Bertie (11).

In 1901, John was in Stanford-le-Hope age 59, with Gordon (28), Ethel J. (24), and Bertie (31). Oddly his wife is not listed on that census.

In 1911, John was still in Stanford-le-Hope (69), along with wife Anna (69) and daughter Anna Elizabeth (40).

From the National Probate Calendar, 1921:
REEVE John of Ashton House Rectory-road Stanford-le-Hope Essex died 4 May 1921 Probate London 16 September to Gordon Reeve commercial clerk. Effects £35.
